Changing Space

The work is a spatial intervention in which an additional wall is built at the far end of an exhibition space. At first the room seems empty since the wall is close to unnoticeable and is designed to resemble the original walls of the space in size and appearance. But the wall is motorized and moves slowly from one end of the room to the other, where the visitor is positioned. The movement is merely ten centimetres per minute and thus too slow to perceive at first. The wall continues to close in on the visitor, only stopping when there is barely enough room for the visitor between the moving wall and the end wall of the space. The observer suddenly becomes subordinate to the observed.
